About generation of serial numbers - Amplia
End-user certificates issued by Amplia have a random serial number. By default, CA certificates have a sequential serial number, but if have an on-premises instance you can configure your instance to also issue CA certificates with random serial numbers (see configure CA certificate templates for instructions).
Length and entropy
The random serial numbers generated by Amplia consist of 16-17 bytes generated with a pseudo-random number generator (CSPRNG) having 122 bits of strong entropy.
